Targeted Surveillance

During the Targeted Surveillance, we focus on symptomatic residents, specific pathogen identification during known or suspected outbreaks, and Multi-Drug Resistant Organism (MDRO) during known or suspected outbreaks. 

Our partnership with a PCR diagnostic lab helps facilities with the reduction of rehospitalization and provides physicians with quicker and more accurate information that allows the residents to receive better care quicker. C&S typically take 3-5 days and during this time, the MD usually prescribes a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is often changed once the C&S is available.  This causes unnecessary delayed treatment and ASE to the resident.  PCR-based testing results within 24 hours.
